NANCY KIEFER is an exhibiting painter who has shown her work at various galleries and museums in the United States, Berlin, and Oaxaca. Most recently she has been an artist-in-residence at Green River Community College and at Centrum in Port Townsend, Washington.

Her memoir “Twenty-Third Street” was published in Unmuted: Stories of Courage and Resilience from the GenPride Community in 2021. Kiefer collaborated with writer Rebecca Brown on the book Woman in Ill-Fitting Wig, which was recently translated into Japanese.

Kiefer identifies as Elderqueer and has been working on a series of drawings entitled Genderponder. She spends part of her creative life pondering what it means to be Elderqueer. She also thinks about who god is, whether leaves talk to each other, and what to plant in the garden.

Under the Rainbow: Storytelling for the LGBTQIA+ and Allied Community takes place every second Monday for teens and adults. Sign up for open mic at the event. LGBTQIA+ tellers are prioritized; allies are welcome in the audience and to participate in post-story conversation. No one is obligated to tell a story.
